Rock Mill Road Closes for Bridge Repair Again!

Lancaster, Ohio, July 16 -- The historic Rock Mill Bridge was hit and damaged again yesterday. An overhead beam was knocked down by a driver attempting to cross the bridge while pulling a backhoe on a trailer. There was not enough clearance for the backhoe and the beam was struck and damaged.

In August of last year, the bridge was hit by an unknown driver of a garbage truck.
The damage
at that time caused the bridge to close for more than three months until repairs could be made. That driver was never found. This time however, the driver reported the accident to the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office.

Fairfield County Engineer Frank W. Anderson said Rockmill Road NW will remain closed until further notice, until the bridge can be repaired. The closure is between Alspach Road NW and Lithopolis Road NW (between house numbers 1425 and 1460 Rockmill Road NW).
