Engineer Observes Work Zone Awareness Week,
Announces Open House
Lancaster, Ohio, April 6 -- Highway construction season is right around the corner and County Road Workers will soon be out in force. In observance of National Work Zone Awareness Week 2001, April 9 - 13, Fairfield County Engineer Frank Anderson wants to remind motorists to use extra caution when traveling through work zones. The Awareness Week is a national campaign to help increase awareness of work zone safety needs from the perspective of both driver and highway worker. The program helps educate the public about work zone related injuries and fatalities and the hazards and dangers that can be encountered and avoided.
In a related matter, Anderson announced the Engineer�s Office will also observe National Transportation Week, May 13 -19, with his administration�s first-ever Open House of the Highway Maintenance Facility located at the Fairgrounds. The public is invited to attend the Open House which will be conducted on Saturday, May 19 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Current plans include facility tours, exhibits; including plans for the new facility, highway equipment displays, project updates and demonstrations and refreshments will be available. Look for more information as the date draws closer.
